Franklin Pool to Remain Closed

The City of Yakima’s Franklin Pool will not open this summer due to restrictions related to Gov. Jay Inslee’s phased-in Safe Start program. Yakima County remains in Phase 1 of the program, which was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The outdoor pool’s continued closure this summer means Franklin Pool’s programs and events, such as Paws in the Pool in August, will be canceled.

The City’s indoor pool, Lions Pool, also remains closed due to restrictions associated with Phase 1.

“We are making every effort to have Lions Pool ready for re-opening once we reach the required phase of Gov. Inslee’s Safe Start program,” said Parks and Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson.

Yakima Parks and Recreation reminds the public that playground equipment at City parks are not available due to COVID-19. The City previously closed the Harman Center, tennis courts, pickleball courts, the dog park at Randall Park and all Parks and Recreation programs due to the virus.
