Free Workshop Aimed at Educating About Senior Options

The City of Yakima is sponsoring a free workshop on Thursday, July 11th beginning at 1:30 pm at the Harman Senior Center (101 N. 65th Avenue) to help retirees, their families, and people who are thinking about retiring learn what options are available in the community related to senior housing and healthcare.

The workshop is open to not only City employees, retirees, and their families, but to anyone else in the community who wants to attend.

Cindi Laws, the Senior Vice President for Business Development for Concierge Care Advisors (“CCA”), will conduct the workshop.  CCA is a Seattle-based firm that provides referral services to seniors in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California.  CCA helps seniors and their families identify the best available housing, assisted living, in-home care, and other senior living solutions based on each individual’s unique needs and circumstances.

The July 11th workshop will offer attendees the opportunity to learn how to wade through the variety of options that are available and how to make well-educated decisions about aging issues facing them and their families.

“I was fortunate to see Cindi make a presentation recently at a conference that I attended and was very impressed,” said Deputy Yakima City Clerk/Pension Secretary Jodi Stephens.  “We wanted her to come to Yakima and share her expertise with not just employees and retirees from the City, but with people from throughout the community who are faced with issues surrounding aging.  We are very excited to be able to offer this invaluable workshop free of charge to anyone who wants to attend,” said Stephens.

Anyone wanting more information about the July 11th free workshop at the HarmanSeniorCenter should contact Deputy Yakima City Clerk/Pension Secretary Jodi Stephens by phone (575-6652) or by e-mail(jodi.stephens@yakimawa.gov).
