Harman Center Holding Online Class, Announces Senior Hotline

The City of Yakima’s Harman Center has heard from the community and is offering its first online class via Zoom.

At 1:00 pm next Tuesday, April 14th, the Harman Center will offer a virtual class on essential oil, highlighting Eucalyptus. The class will be on Zoom. Contact Recreation Program Supervisor Leslie Richards at 576-6402 or e-mail Leslie.Richards@yakimawa.gov to sign up.

“We do not want any of our senior population to feel isolated at this time,” said Richards.

Information about the April 14th class is also available on the Harman Center’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/YakimaHarmanCenter/

Richards posted a video on the Facebook page demonstrating how to set up a Zoom account.

Previously, Richards conducted a survey on the Center’s Facebook page gauging interest in online classes and virtual group meetings. The Harman Center and all City buildings are closed to the public due to COVID-19.

In response to social distancing due to COVID-19, the Harman Center is also announcing a “Hotline for Seniors.” It is available by calling the Center’s main number at 575-6166.

“If seniors need to reach out or talk to someone, just call our main number,” said Richards. “If we don’t answer, please leave a message and we will return your call.”
