Holiday Closures Planned for City of Yakima

Many of the City of Yakima’s facilities will be closed the next two Tuesdays, December 25th, 2018 and January 1st, 2019 for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

That includes City Hall, Y-PAC, and Parks and Recreation offices.

Business offices for the Police and Fire Departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available. The Yakima Police Department’s Services Division and the City’s Municipal Court will both be open from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, December 24th.

Yakima Transit will not provide bus service on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

There will be no City of Yakima garbage pick-up service on either holiday.

Garbage scheduled for pick-up on the two holidays by the City’s Refuse Division will instead be postponed by one day due to the holiday observances. Also, the Refuse Division’s office will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Day. It is recommended that residents have their carts set out by 6:00 am for the day of their scheduled refuse pick-up.

In addition, the City’s Harman Center will be closed to observe the two holidays. The Harman Center will also close at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 24th.

Lions Pool will close at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 24th, and all of Tuesday, December 25th for the Christmas Eve and Christmas holidays. The pool will also close at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 31st and all of Tuesday, January 1st for the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day holidays.
