Junction Box Project to Restrict 40th Avenue Traffic

A project to replace junction boxes will restrict traffic on two sections of 40th Avenue next Monday, May 18th, and Tuesday, May 19th.

City crews will be replacing junction boxes in sidewalks on 40th Avenue just north of Summitview Avenue, northbound, and just north of Chestnut Avenue, southbound.

The curb lanes on those two sections of 40th Avenue will be closed to traffic during the project work hours of 6:00 am to 12:00 pm next Monday and Tuesday. Curb lanes will be coned off and signs will be present in the project area during work hours to assist traffic.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
