Listening Session, Tour Planned at Washington Fruit Community Center

Yakima Parks and Recreation wants to hear from the community about programs and activities at Washington Fruit Community Center.

To that end, a tour and listening session are planned from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 14th at Washington Fruit Community Center, located north of Miller Park at 602 North 4th Street.

“We want to give the community an opportunity to tell us their wants and needs for programming and services at the facility,” said Parks and Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson. “We want to hear from the community and other organizations that serve the city.”

Yakima Parks and Recreation is responsible for programs and activities at the Washington Fruit Community Center at Miller Park. That was the result of an operational change the Yakima City Council formally approved for the center earlier this year.

Programs added recently at Washington Fruit Community Center include Meals on Wheels delivery every Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Meals on Wheels delivers 7-day supplies in the Center’s parking lot. Meals are available for those ages 60 and older. Those interested in applying can call Meals on Wheels at 426-2601.
