Manhole Cover Replacement at 3rd Avenue and Nob Hill to Impact Traffic

A project to replace a manhole ring and cover in the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard will impact traffic in the area near the intersection for most of the morning on Thursday, September 8th.

City of Yakima Wastewater Division crews will be working on the project between 5:00 am and 12:00 pm on September 8th.  The manhole that will have its ring and cover replaced is located in the middle of the 3rd Avenue and Nob Hill intersection.  While the project is underway, drivers heading south on 3rd Avenue will not be allowed through the intersection, but will instead have to turn right at the intersection to head west on Nob Hill.  Northbound traffic on 3rd Avenue will not be able to turn left to head west on Nob Hill.  And, eastbound and westbound traffic on Nob Hill will not be able to turn through the intersection to head north on 3rd Avenue.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained and traffic will be allowed through the project area when possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
