Neighborhood Forum to Focus on Addressing Public Safety

A neighborhood forum will be held on Wednesday, December 6th beginning at 6:00 pm at the Robertson Elementary gymnasium (2807 W. Lincoln Avenue) to provide an opportunity for community members to share their concerns about public safety issues and provide input about potential solutions.  Forum attendees are encouraged to park in the Robertson Elementary lot just north of the school’s gymnasium, which can be access from Powerhouse Road

The forum has been organized by the Yakima City Council and several people who live in the neighborhood in which Robertson Elementary is located.

“The four public safety neighborhood forums that the City Council has held so far this year have been great opportunities for neighbors to learn a little more about what the City is doing to combat violence and crime and to offer some suggestions about what could be done differently,” said Gutiérrez.  “The input and feedback that we have gotten has been very helpful,” said Gutiérrez.

The December 6th forum will be presented primarily in English.  Translation for non-English-speaking attendees will be available.

The City Council announced plans earlier this year for several neighborhood forums to be held throughout Yakima in order to gather feedback from community members as part of developing a long-term strategy addressing public safety issues.  Additional forums are currently being planned.
