Neighborhood Forum to Focus on Addressing Public Safety

A neighborhood forum will be held on Saturday, October 14th beginning at 4:00 pm at St. Michael’s Episcopal Mission (5 South Naches Avenue) to provide an opportunity for community members to share their concerns about public safety issues and provide input about potential solutions.

The forum has been organized by the Yakima City Council and several people who live in the neighborhood in which St. Michael’s is located.

“The October 14th forum will be the second in a series of public safety neighborhood forums being put on by the City Council,” said Gutiérrez.  “The first one was held in June in Council District #1 and was well attended.  These forums give neighbors an opportunity to share their concerns with one another and band together to make it clear that they won’t tolerate violence and crime in their neighborhoods,” said Gutiérrez.  “That’s why these forum are being held.”

The October 14th forum will be presented in English.  Translation for non-English-speaking attendees will be available.

The City Council announced plans earlier this year for several neighborhood forums to be held throughout Yakima in order to gather feedback from community members as part of developing a long-term strategy addressing public safety issues.
