New Finance and Budget Director Chosen

Yakima City Manager Cliff Moore has announced that Danny Agsalog has been chosen to become the City’s new Finance and Budget Director.

“The City is fortunate to have Danny Agsalog joining its senior management team,” said Moore.  “He is extraordinarily experienced in local government and is highly respected by the people he has worked with.  Danny will no doubt enhance what is already an outstanding senior management team,” said Moore.

Agsalog, a U.S. Air Force veteran, has served in several finance-related capacities in both the public and private sectors. He has been both Budget Director and Finance Director for the County of Maui, Hawaii.  Agsalog also has worked as the Executive Director of the Oahu Workforce Investment Board and as manager of a micro-enterprise loan program.

In announcing the hiring of Agsalog to City Council members and City staff, Moore also thanked Interim Director of Finance and Budget Tara Lewis for her efforts in leading the development of the City’s 2018 preliminary budget.

“Tara has done terrific work preparing the preliminary budget and I am grateful to her for all that she has done,” said Moore.

Lewis will continue to serve as the City’s Financial Services Manager as Agsalog begins his tenure as Finance and Budget Director on October 16th.

As Director of Finance and Budget, Agsalog will oversee a staff of about 35 employees in the Financial Services, Purchasing, and Utility Services divisions.  The total budget for the City’s Finance and Budget Department in 2017 is nearly $4,000,000.

Agsalog’s starting salary will be about $113,000 a year, plus benefits.
