Police Investigating Homicide on Sliger Road

A 16-year-old male died early Sunday morning after being shot in the 1800 block of Sliger Road.

Yakima police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Sliger Road shortly before 2:00 am Sunday following reports of shots fired.  Witnesses said the victim was walking to a residence on Sliger road along with two other juvenile males and two juvenile females.  The group was allegedly confronted by two armed men.  The armed men purportedly pointed guns at the group that included the victim.  A fight between the suspects and some members of the victim’s group apparently broke out and the victim was shot several times.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the fight, one of the suspects, a 19-year-old male, was also shot and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Yakima police continue to investigate the incident.  No arrests have been made at this time.  The name of the 16-year-old victim is not being released pending notification of his family.
