Powerhouse Road Closure Extended for Sidewalk Work

The closure of Powerhouse Road between Englewood Avenue and N. 26th Avenue will continue next Tuesday through Friday, July 25th-28th.

The closure is required for a sidewalk construction project in the vicinity of Robertson Elementary School. The road closure is in effect 8:00 am until 3:00 pm each day during project work hours.

Due to heavy traffic volumes on Powerhouse Road, drivers can expect delays and should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed. Detours around the construction site will be available.

This project, funded through the Washington State Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School program, began this week with Powerhouse Road closures in place through Friday, July 21st, and resuming next Tuesday through Friday.

The closure may be extended an additional two weeks as crews complete the sidewalk project. If so, the City of Yakima will provide updates on its platforms.

Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
