An acceleration lane update will impact traffic this Thursday, May 16th, at the intersection of Washington Avenue and 48th Avenue.
A City of Yakima Signs and Markings crew will install raised pavement markings for the acceleration lane at the intersection from 8:00 am to 11:00 am Thursday. Traffic on South 48th Avenue will be right turn only on to Washington. Traffic on Washington will be one lane each direction during the project.
City crews installed an acceleration lane at the intersection in October 2022. It allows drivers turning left from 48th Avenue to adjust the speed of their vehicles to the speed of traffic as they merge onto Washington Avenue.
Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
