Project to Close Section of 20th Avenue is Extended

A project that requires closing 20th Avenue from Maclaren Avenue to Saint Helens Street is extended through at least this Friday, March 8th. The closure is during project work hours of 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm each day.

Work involves repairing a pipe across the roadway. It was originally scheduled to close 20th Avenue today, Wednesday, only. However, the project is experiencing delays and requires the closure of 20th Avenue through at least Friday. An update on the project’s status is planned sometime Friday.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.

Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

Contact Street Maintenance Supervisor Jay Kendall at 509-576-6443 for more about the project.
