Railroad Crossing Repair Project to Impact Traffic on “I” Street

A project to repair a section of track owned by BNSF Railway will impact traffic on a portion of “I” Street from Tuesday, November 7th through Thursday, November 9th.

BNSF crews will be repairing a section of track that crosses “I” Street just west of Front Street.  As a result of the project, the portion of “I” Street from just west of Front Street to just west of the BNSF crossing will be closed from November 7th through November 9th.  Detour routes around the project area will be available and will be marked with appropriate signage.  Flaggers will also be on site to help drivers navigate around the work area.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Street Inspector Dan Riddle at 576-6464.
