Road Improvement Project on 11th Avenue to Impact Traffic

A road improvement project will impact traffic along a one-block section of 11th Avenue on Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th.

The project will take place on 11th between Yakima Avenue and Chestnut Avenue and will involve frontage improvements associated with an adjacent business.

Work on the project will take place between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm on October 3rd and from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm on October 4th. While the project is underway, the section of 11th Avenue between Yakima Avenue and Chestnut Avenue will be closed to traffic during work hours.  Detour routes around the project area will be available and will be marked with appropriate signage.  Flaggers will be on site to help drivers navigate around the project area.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Chief Engineer Brett Sheffield at 576-6797.
