Road Improvement Project to Impact Traffic on Lincoln Avenue

A project to improve the road surface of Lincoln Avenue between 58th Avenue and 60th Avenue will impact traffic from tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27th through Wednesday, April 10th.

While the project is underway, only local traffic will be allowed on Lincoln between 58th Avenue and 60th Avenue.  Work on the project will take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm until the project is completed.

The section of Lincoln between 58th Avenue and 60th Avenue is severely cracked.  As part of the project, City crews will remove the existing asphalt and road bed, reconstruct the base, and place new hot mix asphalt to provide a more durable driving surface. The project also includes laying over 700 linear feet of storm drain pipe and installing several manholes and storm drains.

Drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
