Roadwork to Close Section of Occidental Road on April 13th

Roadwork will result in the closure of a section of Occidental Road for most of the day on Thursday, April 13th.  The project causing the closure was originally scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 12th, but was delayed due to rain.

City of Yakima Streets Division crews will be prepping the section of Occidental between 64th Avenue and 80th Avenue in advance of a road resurfacing project.  While the work is underway, that section of Occidental will be closed to traffic.  Work on the project will take place between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm on April 13th.  Detour routes around the project area will be available and will be marked with appropriate signage.  Flaggers will also be on site to help drivers navigate through the work area.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
