Safety Project to Impact Traffic on Lincoln Avenue Through Mid-May

A project that will improve the safety of both drivers and pedestrians will impact traffic along a 16-block section of Lincoln Avenue from Monday, March 7th through mid-May.

The project involves installation of new sidewalks, installation of ADA-compliant curb ramps, repair of existing damaged sidewalks, installation of a pedestrian signal crossing near Robertson Elementary School, improving signage for the Pierce Avenue couplet, and replacement of traffic signal heads at both 5th Avenue and Lincoln and 16th Avenue and Lincoln.

While the project is underway, the outside westbound lane of Lincoln between 16th Avenue and 34th Avenue will be closed Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00 am until 5:30 pm.

Because of heavy traffic volumes in the area, drivers can expect delays in and around the project area until the work is completed. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
