Section of River Road to Close for Utility Project

A section of River Road will be closed to all traffic from Thursday, November 16th until Saturday, November 18th while work related to the installation of water and sewer main service is underway.

An approximately one-block section of River Road from 34th Avenue east and just south will be closed while the project is ongoing.  Crews from Ken Leingang Excavating, Inc., a Yakima-based contracting firm, will be installing water and sewer service to the recently-opened Valley Brewing facility.  Homes and businesses along River Road south of the closure will be able to be accessed using 16th Avenue or 20th Avenue.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
