Beginning on Monday, April 8th, westbound traffic on Nob Hill Boulevard will be reduced to one lane from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm between 8th Avenue and 18th Avenue while work is underway to clean sewer lines in the area.  Traffic is likely to be affected throughout the week.

The City of Yakima’s Wastewater Collection Division will be performing sanitary sewer line cleaning and closed caption TV inspection of about 3,200 linear feet of existing 10-inch pipe buried below Nob Hill.  Crews will be using hydro-vacuum trucks to clean the sewer lines and remove accumulated debris.  A robotic camera system will also provide views inside the sewer lines so pipe condition can be assessed and to determine if any repairs need to be made.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained, and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information regarding this project, contact Utility Engineer Shelley Willson at 576-6303.
