Sewer Project to Impact Traffic on 72nd Avenue

A sewer extension/installation project will impact traffic on a section of 72nd Avenue from Friday, October 5th through Friday, October 12th.

As a result of the project, the section of 72nd Avenue between Nob Hill Boulevard and Zier Road will be closed to through traffic between 6:00 pm and 5:00 am each day from October 8th through October 12th.  Preparatory work on the project will take place on October 5th.  Detour routes around the project area will be available and will be marked with appropriate signage.  Between 5:00 am and 6:00 pm each day, two southbound lanes and one northbound lane will be open.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd at 575-6138.
