Stormwater Project to Impact Traffic on Summitview

The installation of a stormwater drainage facility will result in Summitview Avenue being closed between Yakima Avenue and Pierce Avenue from 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 27th to 9:00 am on Friday, June 28th.

Wheeler Excavation was hired by the City of Yakima to install a drainage facility beneath the traffic island at Summitview and 7th Avenue. The closure is needed to replace an aging drain pipe beneath Summitview that has deteriorated.

While the project is underway, eastbound traffic on Summitview will be detoured around the project site via Pierce Avenue, MLK, Jr. Boulevard, and 5th Avenue.

Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
