Motorists will find sections of some streets temporarily closed Monday, January 16th, for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration March.
The march will begin Monday at 12:00 pm at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and North 5th Avenue. From there, it will proceed east on the boulevard to 8th Street. Participants will then head south on 8th Street to the Yakima Convention Center, 10 North 8th Street.
Organizers will begin setting up at 11:00 am Monday.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will be closed from North 6th Avenue to North 8th Street. Eighth Street will be closed from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Yakima Avenue.
Organizers said the march is to honor the slain civil rights leader. It is open to the public. They anticipate more than 400 participants.
