Motorists will find sections of some streets temporarily closed Monday, January 15th, for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace March.
Organizers will begin setting up at 10:00 am Monday morning and the march is expected to conclude by 2:30 pm. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will be closed from North 5th Avenue to North 8th Street. 8th Street will be closed from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Yakima Avenue.
The march will begin at 12:00 pm at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and 5th Avenue. From there, it will proceed east on the boulevard to 8th Street. Participants will then head south on 8th Street to the Yakima Convention Center, 10 North 8th Street.
Organizers said the procession in honor of the slain civil rights leader is a peace and unity march that is open to the public. They expect approximately 200 to 800 spectators.
