Traffic Pattern Reconfiguration Project to Impact Traffic on MLK, Jr. Blvd.

A project to reconfigure traffic patterns will result in traffic restrictions on a portion of MLK, Jr. Boulevard for most of the day on Tuesday, June 6th.

Crews from the City of Yakima Streets Division will be placing new roadway markings and installing new signage along the section of MLK, Jr. Boulevard between 9th Street and the Fair Avenue Roundabout on June 6th from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.  While the project is underway, the inside, eastbound lane of MLK, Jr. Boulevard between 9th Street and the Fair Avenue Roundabout will be closed to all traffic.

The traffic pattern reconfiguration project will create a dedicated left-turn-only lane on MLK, Jr. Boulevard for drivers to use when turning onto 10th Street.  The project will also result in drivers intending to proceed through the Fair Avenue Roundabout to utilize the outside, eastbound lane of MLK, Jr. Boulevard to do so.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
