Traffic Signal Cabinet Install to Restrict Traffic at 16th and Lincoln

Installation of a new traffic signal cabinet will restrict traffic this Sunday, October 27th at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.

During the project, traffic signals at that intersection will be temporarily shut down and travel in all directions will be restricted to one lane with stop signs posted. The restrictions will be in place from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on October 27th.

During that time crews will replace the existing traffic signal cabinet with a new battery back-up model that will also accommodate flashing yellow left-turn operations in all four directions.

Drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
