Traffic Signal Cabinet Install to Restrict Traffic

Installation of a new traffic signal cabinet will restrict traffic this Sunday morning, May 5th, at the intersection of 18th Street and East Nob Hill Boulevard.

The traffic signal at that intersection will be temporarily shut down and travel in all directions will be restricted to one lane with stop signs posted. The restrictions will be in place from about 7:00 am to 12:00 pm this Sunday.

During that time crews will replace the existing traffic signal cabinet with a new battery back-up model that will also accommodate a flashing yellow left-turn operation in all four directions. During this Sunday’s project, crews will also replace all four left-turn lights as well.

Drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
