Traffic Signal Work at 40th Avenue and Summitview to Affect Drivers

Traffic signals at the intersection of 40th Avenue and Summitview Avenue will be shut down temporarily for part of the day on Sunday, July 30th while a new signal cabinet is installed.

City of Yakima crews will be installing a new signal cabinet at that intersection from approximately 8:00 am until about 2:00 pm on July 30th.  While the work is underway, the signals at the 40th Avenue and Summitview intersection will not be working.  Traffic through the intersection will be restricted to one lane in each direction.  Temporary stop signs will be in place to help manage traffic through the intersection.  Drivers should be especially attentive while traveling through the project area.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
