Tree Removal Project on 9th Avenue to Continue to Impact Traffic

A tree removal project on 9th Avenue will continue to impact traffic along a one-block section of the street for most of each day through Friday, August 26th.

Crews have been working to remove a large tree located in public right-of-way on the west side of the street in the 200 block of 9th Avenue since August 23rd.  The work will continue each day through August 26th from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm.  In order to ensure the highest degree of safety for both crews and the public, the section of 9th Avenue between Walnut Street and Spruce Street will continue to be closed during work hours (6:00 am to 3:30 pm) for the remainder of the project.  Detour routes around the project area are available and are marked with appropriate signage.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area is being maintained as best as possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
