Tree Trimming on Wide Hollow Road to Affect Drivers

Tree trimming along Wide Hollow Road will result in the closure of a portion of the eastbound lane of the street for most of the day on Thursday, May 29th.

City of Yakima crews will be cutting back branches on trees along the roadway to improve safety in the area. As a result, the eastbound lane of Wide Hollow between 80th Avenue and 96th Avenue will be closed from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm on May 29th.

Flaggers will be in place to direct eastbound traffic away from the area to a detour route.

The westbound lane of Wide Hollow will remain open while the tree trimming project is underway, although traffic may be slowed in that lane between 80th and 96th.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained and traffic will be allowed through the project area when possible.

As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.
