Victim Named in Homicide at North 1st Street Hotel

On Tuesday, January 11 at about 10:40pm, Yakima police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a male having been shot at the Yakima Inn hotel (1022 N 1st Street).

When officers arrived, they found 38-year-old Clayton Peter Brown, Jr. deceased in a room in the hotel. Brown died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives from the Yakima Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit were called to the scene. Detectives collected evidence, interviewed witnesses, and located video security footage from the Yakima Inn.

“At this point, based on video security footage, several people may have witnessed the shooter leaving the hotel room,” said Yakima Police Captain Jay Seely.  “Our hope is these witnesses come forward and help us arrest the person responsible for this homicide,” said Seely.
