An ongoing wastewater line installation project will result in the temporary closure of a section of 6th Avenue.  Starting on Friday, March 8th, North 6th Avenue from Fruitvale Boulevard to River Road will be closed to traffic and a detour route will be in place to direct drivers around the work zone.  The closure is expected to last until late March.

Crews from TTC Construction, a Yakima-based contracting firm, will be working to install the 12-inch diameter line in North 6th Avenue.  Work will included a deep trench operation for the installation of the pipeline on 6th Avenue between “I” Street and Madison Avenue.

Traffic controls will be in place while the project is underway to help drivers navigate the detour route.  “I” Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue will also remain closed until construction equipment is not obstructing the intersection of 6th Avenue and “I” Street.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to businesses in the area will be maintained and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily, dependant on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
