Wastewater Line Installation Will Close J Street Between 16th Ave and 20th Ave

An ongoing wastewater line installation project will result in temporary closures of the section of J Street between 16th Avenue and 20th Avenue beginning on Sunday, April 28th.  The closures, which will take place overnight from 6:00 pm until 4:00 am during the work week, are expected to last about two weeks.

Even though the section of J Street affected by the overnight closures will be open during daylight hours, traffic in the project area will be restricted.  Traffic controls will be in place while the project is underway to help drivers through the construction zone and to an available detour route.

Entrances to the DSHS office from both J Street and 16th Avenue will be affected by the project, but access to the DSHS building will be maintained.

Crews from TTC Construction, a Yakima-based contracting firm, have been working to install the 12-inch diameter line since earlier this year.

During the phase of the project that will result in the overnight closure of J Street between     16th Avenue and 20th Avenue, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
