Water Work Will Disrupt Traffic on I Street June 3rd and 4th

On Monday, June 3rd and Tuesday, June 4th, traffic on I Street between 4th Avenue and 1st Avenue will be disrupted while City of Yakima crews complete a water system project.

On Monday, June 3rd, intermittent lane closures will occur on that section of I Street.  Flaggers will be on site to alert drivers and to help them navigate through the project area.  I Street between 4th Avenue and 1st Avenue will be closed to all through traffic during the day on Tuesday, June 4th.

The project will involve City crews replacing an existing water line that is leaking.  Work on the project is expected to be completed on Tuesday, June 4th.

During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur.  Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.

Access to homes and businesses in the areas will be maintained and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area when possible.

As always, schedules for these types of projects are subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

For additional information regarding these projects, contact Water Distribution Supervisor James Dean at 576-6154.
