Wind Advisory Issued for Yakima Area

Blowing dust and power outages could result from high winds today according to an advisory issued by the National Weather Service.

The advisory is in effect from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm today. It was issued this morning and calls for winds of 20-to-35 mph with wind gusts up to 45 mph.

The alert is due to a cold front sweeping across the area this afternoon, the National Weather Service (“NWS”) said.

The NWS alert cautions that tree limbs could be blown down and power outages could result.

Outages can be reported 24/7 to Pacific Power by calling 1-877-508-5088. The utility cautions that if you see a downed power line, call 911 immediately and then call its toll-free power outage line.
