Winter Storm Warning Issued for Yakima Area

The National Weather Service (“NWS”) has issued a winter storm warning for the Yakima area. It is in effect today, Monday, February 4th, through 4:00 am tomorrow, Tuesday, February 5th.

The NWS issued the warning at 9:14 am today, and it anticipates total snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches due to a low pressure system. The NWS previously issued a winter weather advisory earlier today before updating it to a winter storm warning.

The City of Yakima urges residents to use caution when driving during the weather advisory and to limit travel if possible. The NWS advises drivers to anticipate slippery road conditions and limited visibility at times.
