Work Begins Monday on Avalanche Avenue Water Line Project

A section of Avalanche Avenue will be closed to thru traffic beginning next Monday, August 9th, for a water line installation project.

On Monday, project contractor Ken Leingang Excavating, Inc. of Yakima will begin installing the new water line on Avalanche Avenue between North 40th Avenue and North 42nd Avenue. The project will improve fire hydrant flows to the surrounding area.

Avalanche Avenue will be closed to thru traffic in the project area. Access will be maintained for local residents and businesses. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area when necessary.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-September.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily depending on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.

Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

The project may cause interruptions in scheduled refuse collection. Customers may contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 575-6005 with any questions or concerns.
