Yakima Airport Hosts First Aviation Day

Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field (YKM) hosts its inaugural Aviation Day on Saturday, June 1st, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The free, family-friendly event will include a variety of aircraft on display, with numerous booths highlighting the aviation industry.

“There will be aircraft of all kinds, food and fun!” said Airport Director Rob Hodgman. “We hope this event will raise awareness among young people and adults about career opportunities in aviation.”

Visit Aviation Day | FLY YKM for more about the event.

Parking will be available in YKM’s main terminal, 2406 West Washington Avenue, or across the street at Perry Tech. ADA parking will be available at the event entrance.

Hodgman noted YKM’s Aviation Day will not include an air show. “As this is a new event, we are only doing a display of aircraft,” he said. “However, it will take place next to our 9/27 runway, which will remain open to aircraft throughout Aviation Day.”

More about YKM is available by calling 509-575-6149, visiting YKM’s Facebook page or e-mailing ykminfo@yakimawa.gov.

Also, a Fly In Pancake Breakfast is planned June 1st from 8:00 am to 11:00 am sponsored by EAA Chapter 206. The breakfast will be at Yakima Air Park, 2104 South 21st Avenue, with entry off of Ahtanum Boulevard.
