Yakima City Council August 1st Business Meeting Review

The Yakima City Council met for a regular business meeting yesterday, Tuesday, August 1st.

Action by the Council on August 1st included:

  • Seeking more information from staff on the Yakima Planning Commission’s findings regarding retail marijuana sales in the M-1 Zoning District.
  • Approving the Hearing Examiner’s recommendation for a rezone proposed at 4503 Powerhouse Road.
  • Approving Tuesday, August 15th, as the date for a closed record appeal hearing regarding the Hearing Examiner’s decision on a proposal to convert a commercial building at 201 South 6th Street into a multi-family residential development.
  • Authorizing an agreement with Boise River Fence, Inc. in the amount of $743,388 for security gate improvements at Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field.
  • Agreeing to resolve and settle the lawsuit brought by Keith A. Schrank. The settlement of $250,000 was paid by the Cities Insurance Association of Washington and the City’s insurance carrier, Munich Reinsurance.
