Yakima City Council July 18th Business Meeting Review

The Yakima City Council met for a regular business meeting last night, Tuesday, July 18th.

Action by the Council on July 18th included:

  • Receiving a report regarding the proposed YMCA aquatics/fitness center facility at Chesterley Park and an update from the YMCA on its fundraising efforts for the proposed project.
  • Discussion on the next steps regarding purchase by the City of property currently owned by Congdon Development Company, LLC.
  • Authorizing contracts with Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity not to exceed $165,000 of HOME Investment Funds to build four single-family residential units.
  • Receiving an update on Camp Hope, a temporary homeless camp on City-owned property.
  • Approving an airport-use agreement with the United States Air Force to lease property for the 2017 Mobility Guardian military exercise from July 31st to August 12th.

The City Council will hold a retreat at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 25th, at the City Training Facility, 421 East Chestnut Avenue. The Council’s next regular business meeting will take place at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 1st, in Council Chambers at Yakima City Hall, 129 North Second Street.
