The Yakima City Council held a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 6th.
Action taken during the Council meeting included:
- Approving appointments to City of Yakima boards and committees
- Accepting the report from the ad-hoc committee and refer the Aquatic Center at Martin Luther King Jr. Park concept design to the Parks Commission for review and comment. Further, direct the administration to hold community meetings to receive direct feedback on three items:
- Pool design
- Park design
- Explore connecting MLK Jr. Park with Adams Elementary School through the closure of Race Street between 8th and 9th Street
- Authorizing an agreement with the Yakima Area Arboretum for the operation and maintenance of Yakima’s arboretum

The City Council’s next meeting is a budget review study session on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023, at 4:00 pm at Washington Fruit Community Center.
