Yakima City Council October 1st Regular Meeting Review

The Yakima City Council held a regular meeting yesterday, Tuesday, October 1st.

Action taken by the Council yesterday included:

  • Approving an ordinance concerning cruising events, permitting eight unrestricted annual Yakima Avenue cruising events to occur from 6 to 10 pm on the second and third Saturdays in June, July, August and September.
  • Appropriating funds to address the no camping ordinance.
  • Abolishing the following City Council committees: Public Safety, Economic Development, Partnership and Healthy Communities & Neighborhood Building.
  • Establishing an Appointment Committee.

Prior to the regular meeting last night, Tuesday, the City Council held a special meeting to interview two interim city manager candidates via Skype. At the conclusion of that meeting, the Council agreed to enter into contract negotiations with Alex Meyerhoff for the interim city manager position.

The Yakima City Council will hold its second 2020 budget study session at 10:00 am tomorrow, Thursday.  The meeting will be in the Council Chambers at Yakima City Hall, 129 N. 2nd Street.  It will air live on Y-PAC and also be streamed live on the City of Yakima website at https://www.yakimawa.gov/council/live-stream/
