Airport Runway to Close for One Week in August for Upgrades

Airline passengers will need to make alternate plans during the last week of August 2020 as the Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field (YKM) runway will close for planned improvements. Runway 27 will close from 8:00 am Monday, August 24th, through 8:00 pm Saturday, August 29th. Scheduled improvements include replacing runway edge lights, asphalt maintenance and updating


Holiday Closures Planned for Memorial Day

Many of the City of Yakima’s services will be closed Monday, May 25th, for Memorial Day. Yakima Transit will not provide bus service Monday. There will be no City of Yakima garbage pick-up service on Monday, May 25th. Garbage collection service schedules by the City’s Refuse Division will be delayed by one day next week.

Junction Box Project to Restrict 40th Avenue Traffic

A project to replace junction boxes will restrict traffic on two sections of 40th Avenue next Monday, May 18th, and Tuesday, May 19th. City crews will be replacing junction boxes in sidewalks on 40th Avenue just north of Summitview Avenue, northbound, and just north of Chestnut Avenue, southbound.
