City Survey Seeks Input on Urban Forest

The City of Yakima wants to hear from the community about urban forestry in a new survey available at Mailchimp Survey (list-manage.com)

The City has hired consultant ArborPro to develop an urban forestry management plan. The plan will include several tree-related issues such as maintenance, tree inventory, assessing tree condition and pruning.

“Planning is in the beginning stages and we appreciate the community’s input about the City of Yakima’s trees,” said Senior Planner/Acting Planning Manager Eric Crowell.

The survey is available through April 12th.

The 17-question survey seeks responses on several topics, including:

  • Whether the city should invest in more trees
  • Condition of Yakima’s urban forest
  • Interest in the City hosting more tree-related events
  • The most important benefits of trees in the City of Yakima
  • The biggest threats to trees in Yakima

In July 2023, the City of Yakima received a Washington State Department of Natural Resources Grant for the development of an Urban Forestry Management Plan.
