Yakima Police Investigating Explosions

The Yakima Police Department in association with other agencies are investigating a series of explosions in the central area of town, occurring around 2230-2300 hrs.  Officers then responded to a large fire of a bush in the 1100 block of W. Blockbuster Store Fundraiser Helps Firefighters

Yakima’s Blockbuster video store raised hundreds of dollars from local residents to support the Yakima Fire Department’s Rehabilitation/Hydration Support Vehicle.  This apparatus is used by the fire department to provide relief to firefighters while they are engaged in fire suppression and emergency incident events. The efforts by the staff at Blockbuster Video are very timely


Road Repairs to Impact Traffic on Walnut Street

Beginning on Thursday, August 1st, traffic will be disrupted on the section of Walnut Street between 1st Avenue and 2nd Avenue through Thursday, August 8th while road repairs are made. On Thursday, August 1st from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, traffic on that section of Walnut will be limited to one lane in each direction


Sewer Line Repair Will Impact Traffic on Section of Nob Hill

On Wednesday, July 31st from 7:00 am until about 6:00 pm, traffic on the section of Nob Hill   Boulevard between 22nd Avenue and 24th Avenue will be disrupted while work is underway to repair a broken City of Yakima sewer line. Traffic on that section of Nob Hill will be reduced to one lane


Citywide Road Resurfacing Project to Impact Traffic on Arterial Sections

An ongoing project to resurface several key sections of Yakima streets this summer and fall will impact traffic on sections of Fair Avenue, Washington Avenue, and 64th Avenue from July 22nd through July 25th. Washington Avenue between 1st Street and 14th Street will be closed to all through traffic from Monday, July 22nd at 8:00

Road Repairs to Impact Traffic on Chestnut Avenue and Union Street

Beginning on Tuesday, July 16th, sections of Chestnut Avenue and Union Street will be closed to through traffic during daytime hours through Thursday, July 18th. The eastbound lanes of Chestnut between 8th Street and 9th Street will be closed between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm while repairs are made to the road surface.  Westbound traffic


Cascade and Senator Apartments No Longer Subject to Vacation Order

Because faulty fire alarm system concerns have now been resolved, the City of Yakima has formally notified the owner of the Cascade and Senator buildings that the apartments in the two Downtown Yakima properties will not have to be vacated by Thursday, July 18th.
